IT IS NAILED!

This once-prosperous town was now a ghost of its former self. The big factory that had fuelled the growth and prosperity of the city had been closed for years now. The population suffered bitterly, with no work to do. But a movement was afoot to remedy the situation, as a group of believers took it upon themselves to pray life back into the dead city! They fasted and prayed over the city and its people. One morning, the people woke up to an unusual sight: A naked man was stranded at the top of the long chimney of the factory.

They managed to get the man down and asked how he got up there and why he was naked. The man narrated that he was a part of a group of sorcerers who were responsible for the factory shutting down. He said that every year, they would renew the covenant they had made against the factory, and the night before, he had gone to the factory to renew the covenant. But as he finished his business and was about to fly back to his house, he suddenly lost all his occult powers and landed at the top of the chimney, naked.

Colossians 2:13-14 says “When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 When He had [l]disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through [m]Him.” (NASB)

WOW!!! What we’re told in this passage of Scriptures is powerfully illustrated by what happened in that town! Evil decrees were made against the factory, its workers and the entire city by evil rulers and authorities of the occult, until the day the Lord Jesus arose and nailed their decrees to the cross and literally made a public display of them by arresting one of them upon that chimney!!!

Brethren, understand who you are in Christ! Understand the meaning of the finished work of the Cross! In that work, the Lord took care of EVERY possible evil that the devil and his people can do in this universe! Any decrees, incantations, agreements, sacrifices, etc., made against a believer has already been nailed to the Cross the moment The Lord pronounced that IT IS FINISHED! (John 19:30)

So why does this finished work not seem to be evident in the lives of believers? Why do so many believers still suffer under the weight of various forms of oppression? It is because we fail to act on it! We fail to do what we need to do in order for it to work in our lives. That’s one powerful lesson that can be learned from the story of the factory: As long as no one called on the Lord to apply His finished work unto that city, the city remained dead! Someone had to pray that the finished work of the Cross be applied to the situation the city was undergoing. GOD HAS DONE HIS PART, WE MUST DO OURS!!! He has made a provision for destroying the works of evil, but we must now make use of the provision ourselves!

Here’s a crucial thing to understand about Christianity: When a person becomes saved, the finished work of the Cross does not automatically go to work on its own to destroy the various bad conditions that the person has been dealing with. Rather after becoming saved, the believer is expected to begin to apply BY FAITH the truth of the finished work to the various issues in his own life. This is why ‘faith without works is dead’. The believer must now begin to put his faith to work by applying his faith to the various areas of his life, and believe in the Lord to help make them better.

By faith the group of believers called on the Lord Jesus to heal their city. By faith they invoked the fact that according to the Scriptures, whatever was killing their town had already been taken care of on the Cross! And because they set out to stand on that belief, the power in the finished work was released upon the issue they were dealing with, and it was destroyed!

So brother, sister, I don’t care what it is that you might be dealing with, begin to call upon the fact that The Lord has already destroyed that issue on the Cross! By faith in the finished work of the Cross, tell that issue that it cannot remain in your life! As you stand on this belief and release your faith into it, it WILL be destroyed!

Another crucial lesson from the story of the factory is that WE HAVE A JOB TO DO! People are suffering all around us, being shackled and tormented by the devil. As long as no one prayed about the situation in that town, the situation remained. And as long as you and I do not pray about the situations around us, they will remain. How tragic!

So child of God, arise and be a son/daughter to your heavenly Father! Be active in taking care of your Father’s business! His business is to make this world better! His business is to heal the sick, set the captives free, make lives better! BUT HE NEEDS YOU TO DO THAT! He needs your prayers. He needs your faith. It is only the prayers of the saints that can release the power of the finished work upon a situation and enable it to reverse the situation!

We’ve all heard that evil prospers where good men do nothing. It’s evermore true that evil prospers where Christians keep quiet! Determine today to do something about the evil and suffering around you! Begin to call upon the Lord to release the power of His finished work upon the bad situations you see in people’s lives. Do your job of helping to set the captives free!

God bless you as you do His work!

GOT GRACE?

King Herod loved to hear John-the-Baptist, even though John always gave him grief over his illicit affair with his brother’s wife…  You’ve probably heard or read the statement “God will never lead you where His grace will not be with you”. Very true statement, because God would never set you up for failure; and without the backing of His grace, you will find it very hard to succeed in your endeavors.

That’s how crucial grace is! Grace is ‘unmerited favor’ from the Lord. Favor from the Lord opens doors; makes hard things simple; makes impossible things possible; provides divine and miraculous help from above; puts angels to work on our behalf; causes people to be favorable towards us; helps to succeed where others have failed; causes the elements of creation to work for us; and so on… And grace is that unmerited favor from the Lord, which does all these wonderful things in a believer’s life.

Grace is unmerited, because it is something that God chooses to bestow upon a believer. A good human father who has the power to do all things will be willing to help his child in every way possible. Grace is that willingness from God to divinely and supernaturally help His children succeed and enjoy life in this world. The only condition is… that we be in God’s will for our lives.

This is why it is indispensable that a believer always be where God wants him to be at any given time! God has designed a particular life for each of us; this means that there’s a specific place that He has ordered that we must be, according to the plan that He has made for us. WHERE GOD HAS ORDERED FOR US TO BE IS WHERE HE HAS ORDERED HIS GRACE TO WORK FOR US.
Needless to say then, that one of the chief reasons that believers struggle in life is that they are not where God has purposed for them to be. They’re living and working outside His will for them, where they don’t get to enjoy the power of His grace in their lives.

As long as John-the-Baptist was where God wanted him to be, he enjoyed a serious dose of grace! According to Mark 6:20, King Herod, whom John rebuked constantly, was afraid of john, and enjoyed listening to him. Instead of trying to kill John, Herod loved him. That’s an example of how grace from God can cause even your enemies to love you. During Abraham and Isaac’s days, their rivals and enemies came and begged them to be at peace with them, because God’s favor that was upon them caused the dread of heaven to fall upon their enemies for their sakes!

So John was able to get away with saying to people things they didn’t want to hear. So does a minister who is ministering where and how God wants him to minister, enjoy divine grace, help, protection and success from above! The problem is when we fail to see where God has ordered for us to be; how He has ordered for us to serve Him; what He would have us do; how He would have us do it… In John-the-Baptist’s case, he failed to understand what set time had come upon his life.

You see, John was called to proclaim and announce the coming of the Lord Jesus. So obviously, this ministry of announcing the coming of Jesus was supposed to end the day Jesus started His own ministry. If you’re announcing that somebody is coming and the person comes, do you continue to announce that he is coming? No. But John kept on baptizing and preaching. What message was he preaching now, since God did not give him any new message to preach? Therefore, he was now clearly operating outside the will of God for him. Here’s what should have happened: Now that Jesus had started His ministry, John should have sought to know from God what he was to do next.

Personally, I believe that John should have become Jesus’ very first disciple! Now that his Master had come and started His ministry, he should have placed himself at his Master’s service. He should have started following Jesus to hear and see what Jesus had come to say and do. And it is this failure to follow Jesus that caused him to start doubting whether Jesus was truly the Messiah or not. This is why when John sent his disciples to Jesus to ask if He was indeed the Messiah, Jesus told them to tell him that the blind are seeing, the deaf are hearing, and the cripple are walking. That was to tell John that if he had been here  with Jesus like he should have been, he would have seen the Lord do those miracles for himself, and would have no doubt that Jesus is indeed the Messiah.

You see, brethren, as long John was doing what he was supposed to be doing ACCORDING TO GOD’S PLAN FOR HIS LIFE, the grace of God was with him, and he was untouchable! But when he failed to see the new direction that he was to take in life and follow Jesus, but kept on ministering and announcing the coming of Jesus, the grace moved on from him, and the same Herod, who used to enjoy listening to his rebukes and insults, had him arrested. And, before long, he was killed.

Never dwell outside the will and plan of God for your life! His grace is available for you only where He has purposed for you to be; only in the particular ministry He has called you into; only at the particular church where He has purposed for you to worship and serve Him; only with the particular spouse He has made for you; only in the job He has purposed for you; and so forth…

Someone eloquently said “if your will is God’s will, you will have your will”. If what you set out to do is what God wants you to be doing in the first place, then His grace will be with you in doing that thing, and success would be guaranteed for you.

Grasp this understanding and determine to make His will for your life your will for your life! Make out time to earnestly seek His face to know exactly where He has purposed for you to be in every area of your life. That’s where His grace and the hosts and powers of heaven are waiting to work for you and help you accomplish the great things that God has purposed for you to accomplish, to His glory!

GET READY FOR THE LAST LAUGH!

Sarah laughed when she overheard God telling Abraham that she would soon have a child (Genesis 18:12). Our all-seeing God saw that she had laughed and asked “is anything too hard for The Lord?” (Genesis 18:14).
So when The Lord did what He said He would do, and Sarah had her son, He told them to name him ISAAC, which means ‘he laughs’.
Who is the ‘he’ that’s laughing? It is The Lord! He laughed the kind of laughter that people laugh when they do something that everyone said they couldn’t do. That’s why He told them to name the child ‘He laughs’, as a testament to the fact that He had the last laugh over the matter!
Somebody else also laughed because of what The Lord had done: Sarah. When she had her son, she sang and danced and laughed.
Brethren, rejoice! Because you will ALWAYS have the last laugh! Why? Because your God will ALWAYS have the last laugh!
I don’t care what issue has caused people to laugh at you, the great news I have for you is that as long as the God of Abraham and Sarah is your God, you will have the last laugh over that issue BECAUSE YOUR GOD WILL HAVE THE LAST LAUGH OVER THAT ISSUE!
Fully trust in the God of Abraham, and watch Him give you that last laugh! You may not see how such a thing could be possible right now, but remember Sarah. She couldn’t see how either. But as she found out, nothing is too hard for our God! Start practicing your last laugh over that issue!!!
